Pair programming has a huge influence on the learning experience. My new partner was way ahead of me. He had spent a year longer than I had learning the core concepts of both Ruby and JavaScript.
We didn’t take breaks, even when it came time for individual work. His commitment to making sure I really understood what we were doing was nice. I wouldn’t have expected that. But I was feeling “behind” and somewhat panicky.
The hardest part about a fast-paced program like coding bootcamp is that there isn’t ever time to catch up. Even after class. On this Monday in particular, the women in the class were hosting a Women Who Code event so there especially wasn’t a chance for me to review before meeting up with my partner the next day.
